If you notice one edge of the tire wearing faster than the rest, don’t simply replace the tire and move on. The tire may be telling you something about the suspension or alignment.
Replacing the tire without addressing the cause simply resets the clock.
Another consideration is the relationship between alignment and safety.
Correct alignment helps the tires maintain the intended contact with the road. It also contributes to predictable braking, steering response, and stability.
Modern driver-assistance systems can add another layer of complexity. Certain vehicles may require calibration procedures after suspension work or significant changes in ride height and alignment.
That’s why alignment isn’t simply about pointing the wheels straight.
It’s about returning the vehicle’s suspension geometry to the condition required for predictable handling.
